This is what it’s all about.

These bags of shoes and clothing were delivered to some very deserving children by Chaplain Capt Andrew G. McIntosh.

The following photos were taken during a visit to distribute donations to a refugee camp over an hour away from Bagram. You can read Tom’s story about the trip here.

Tom, we are following your good deeds on the website provided. What a wonderful way to show how Americans really feel for these people. They want only to live in peace and have food, shelter and clothing to provide for their families…just like everyone else. It makes one stop and think of all that we have..and all that they don’t. God bless you, and come home soon.

Tom, Thanks for all you are doing to help these fine people and for letting us join you and your colleagues in this effort. We are so proud of all of you. I particularly like the “Iditarod-like” sun glasses. You look great! We’ll make another Target run and get more shoes, clothing and, of course, baseballs to you this month. All our best and stay safe. Joe Phair, San Francisco

    Tom & all,

What a wonderful thing you are doing. All our love and best wishes for a safe time away and then a safe and happy return to your wonderful family. I forwarded the website to a local TV station that highlights new and interesting sites once a week. Hopefully they will pick this one to tell the viewers about.

Our Nursery School collected and mailed 10 boxes of shoes to Tom. I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the parents in our school. I recognized 3 pairs of shoes in the pictures. This is a very rewarding experience for me.

    Tom,

This is a really wonderful project, and as others have said this will be the way that we win this war, by winning the hearts of the people there. The Pediatric Clinic here at Elmendorf has some shoes to send over. Thanks for helping to organize this effort. I look forward to seeing you back home. Stay safe for as long as you’re there, and safe travels home.

Awesome work guys! Got a box heading your way with shoes and clothes. Hope they thaw out from the -20 degrees weather around here.

Thanks for demonstrating the compassionate side of our great country.

Looking forward to your safe return,

Your friends in the APU & GI
