They just need some shoes.

Project Credits

This project would not exist without the insight and warm heart of (Air Force Lt. Col.) Dr. Thomas Knolmayer and his wonderful wife Tina. Tom is a surgeon that was deployed to Afghanistan in 2008 and saw these poor children on a daily basis. All it took was Tom mentioning how heart-breaking it was to see children without shoes and Tina gathered some up and sent them off.  Soon, Tom received boxes of shoes every day from good people in their community — and thanks to those people spreading the word, it’s spreading all over the country.

Our gratitude goes to so many people now, but we want to specifically thank Deb Naspinsky for really kicking this thing off; Julie and Eric Hoover (Radiologist deploying to Bagram in Feb. 2010) for creating the poster, flier, and maintaining the Web site; Keith Brown for such beautiful photography to work with; and Operation Care volunteers who accumulate donations, sort through them and organize them into boxes that the Army Provincial Reconstruction Teams teams can take out to the Afghan villages they visit.

We encourage you to get involved and spread the word to your friends, family and community. These children are desperately in need.

Thank YOU for visiting this site and please, come back often to tell us what you’re doing and read the inspiring stories Tom and the hospital staff share here.
